I visited about a year ago and liked the energy and feel of the area and decided to move in about 6 months ago. While there are great things about the neighborhood, one of the things that sets it aside from other neighborhoods in the city and inner ring suburbs is the towpath. I was under the impression that this was an attraction. However, the towpath is in such deplorable condition it is mind boggling. There is a boom behind the Restoration hardware building that is supposed to catch the trash? The abandoned park on the opposite side of the towpath Venice Park? Last week, while walking the dog, I saw a car pull up and dump trash bags over the fence that leads to the Schuykill. Party-goers are indiscriminately throwing trash and liquor into the water. In the last several weeks, I have seen increased homeless and panhandlers move in on the dark and empty towpath.

What a Multi-purpose trail should be One thing that sets Philadelphia and vicinity apart from other major cities–besides cheesesteaks, soft pretzels, and Rocky–is the Schuylkill River Trail. As a local resident I have used it many times and will continue to do so. I can tell from other reviews that most out-of-towners are generally impressed, and they should be.

See which is the best American beer city. Philadelphia possesses one of the richest and most dynamic beer-drinking cultures in America. Tenured publicans flex on far-reaching friends to secure bottles and kegs that don’t land anywhere else, while nationally recognized breweries in and around the city spread the hoppy love the opposite direction.
